California Achievement Tests, Sixth Edition Survey (CAT/6 Survey)

The CAT/6 Survey — published by CTB McGraw-Hill — is the normative component of California's standardized assessment system. It is administered only to students taking the grade three and grade seven tests. It tests reading, language arts, spelling, and mathematics.

The CAT/6 Survey allows for a comparison of California students against other students across the nation and provides a snapshot of California students referenced against a national cross section. Its content reflects national standards, and its results contribute to the Academic Performance Index.

For more information about the CAT/6 Survey, see the CTB McGraw-Hill Web site or the Stanford 9 - CAT/6 Linking Study, which was published in 2003 as an addendum to the 2003 STAR Post-Test Guide.
